Aware of the signs
The power of homeopathy, according to Miria de Amorim.
Rose Esquenazi
In 1977, when she was in the third year of Medicine at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Miria de Amorim discovered that her path was another. "I went to Florianopolis to give a paper and in the evening each student had to do a course. In the secretariat, the employee, almost quarreling with me, said that there were no more vacancies for the homeopathy group. And I hadn’t even asked! That woman sealed my fate." Of course, Miria rushed to the homeopathy room. On her return to Rio, she did post-graduation and specializing courses. "Homeopathy worked with me – I had numerous health disorders: labial herpes, gastritis, allergic rhinitis, stress. Two years earlier I had been vaccinated against herpes but it didn’t work. With the first dose of homeopathic medication that I took, I was cured of everything. I was amazed, because I myself didn’t believe in homeopathy. Today, I’m in perfect health”, explains the Rio-born homeopath physician, 50 years old, four children, practicing yoga and meditation.
A short time ago, when the UFRJ group met to commemorate its 20th anniversary, Miria was surprised: 40% of her colleagues were working with homeopathy. In Brazil, more than 15,000 professionals work with this specialty. But there is still great pressure and prejudice against homeopathy. "It raises deep-rooted questions, non-linear dimensions and this does not interest the mechanicist point of view. It’s an attempt to exile homeopathy", she says defiantly. In her consulting rooms in Barra da Tijuca, she attends 5,000 patients, who return every year from many parts of Brazil and abroad. Author of the book Holism, Homeopathy, Alchemy – A Synchronicity for Healing (published in Portuguese by ed. Caravansarai), Miria takes a new approach toward classic homeopathy.
The story of the little toad
"When you throw a toad in a pan of hot water, it immediately jumps. But if you put the toad in a pan and heat the water slowly it doesn’t jump, and eventually dies. This is an interesting analogy compared to what happens with the chronic invalid: when the individual reaches a morbid state, he or she will lose the memory of patterns compatible with health, and that diseased status is now considered normal. This also explains why people do not leave certain relationships, certain life situations. They are prisoners in that pattern, although very often they rationally understand that they are ailing because of their life story. And what does homeopathy do? It erases morbid information, reprograms this individual within universal patterns of health, restoring the memory of who the person really is. And so, by means of a self-reference, he or she sees the hot pan and, as if suddenly alarmed, leaps. To life.” (Miria de Amorim)
Holistic meaning
“Instead of working with models of specific disorders, which emanate from a biological matrix, as in traditional homeopathy, the purpose of this new therapeutic model is to reorganize the matrix, this source from which the morbid patterns expressing the different pathologies emerge. It this sense it obeys exactly the homeopathic laws of healing extolled by Samuel Hahnemann, their creator, which not only see the disease but also the subject, in the most holistic sense. For many years we did research to chart the elements of nature that can create a movement of self-organization in this biological matrix. It is a new way of working. I began alone 20 years ago and today we have 40 contributing homeopaths. I did my Master’s at UFRJ in the toxicology area and defended my thesis: Homeopathy in the prevention of diseases of an environmental origin from agrochemicals. We demonstrated through basic research on 20 mice that, by administering a lethal dose of the agrochemical Tamarón to 50% of the animals over a period of 20 minutes, we found that, in the group treated with the homeopathic method, 100% of the animals fully recovered in two hours. If the homeopathic studies did not work on very serious things, such as toxicology, people do not believe it. Poison is something incontestable. The studies are on the site www.fatoresdeautoorganizacao.com.br”
Placebo effect
“When you research with mice intoxicated by extremely harmful poisons, you discard any possibility of thinking that the effect can be a placebo, since if the medication fails, then the animals die for sure. That is why we are making this effort to take homeopathy to basic research, because you can’t make a mistake with mice: either it is or it isn’t. But even with regard to poisoning using Tamarón, the biofield succeeds in being reprogrammed through new information compatible with health and the overall system reacts immediately. It leaps from that hot pan. This is the most fantastic thing. The body has potential even to save itself from deadly poison. Where does the poison go? We do not yet know, because there is no investment in homeopathy. The studies that exist are funded by the professionals themselves out of pure passion and courage."
Believing and disbelieving
"Homeopathy has been around for the last 200 years, so no lie would survive for so long. Why would a person pay for an appointment if it does not work? I have many patients, already healed, who return for a check up once a year, or every six months. In general, the patient who seeks homeopathy has had other treatment than homeopathic. The patient generally looks for homeopathy when all other allopathic resources have been exhausted. It is the end of the line. We work in the reality on top of the failure of allopathy."
Healthy response
"The responsibility of medicine is to rebuild the subject that needs to give qualitative leaps of consciousness. Disease is a consequence of deviation, of the subject’s not caring for him or herself in this direction. Being healthy is being whole: homeopathy seeks the wholeness of being. We need to listen to the other with deeper care, guide him well, but the correct medication is fundamental. If you give a bad prescription, you will clearly see that the treatment did not work. This also happens in experiments with mice. We also do research alongside other scientists with serious ailments caused by the use of agrochemicals.”
Major problems
"Here in my consulting room I only receive real problems: collagenoses, chronic diseases of all etiologies, acute disorders, depression, all kinds of emotional upset. Today, the cases are much more serious and out of balance than ten years ago. Even children take tranquillizers. There are also many behavioral disorders, that is, we do not treat only allergies, as allopathic doctors normally say.”
Psychiatric remedies
"This kind of medication anesthetizes people, and patients develop Alzheimer’s and problems of memory because of some of them. From the spiritual viewpoint, people live their dramas and do not have a structure of consciousness to prepare them. The problems are being left on the shelf. Till when we don’t know. There is no need for the unconscious to tolerate this. A new psychiatric medication appeared whose active principle is similar to that of cocaine, and always leaves people feeling good. Their mother died and they continue on top of the world. They are addicted to the medication, thinking everything is wonderful. People are not growing more mature in the past ten years, since there’s happiness and pain in their lives. Homeopathy structures the person so that he or she can work on the situations and move ahead.
Centers of consciousness
A parallel study between the homeopathic medical subject and the endocrine centers was undertaken to chart these elements, and a perfect analogy was found between that data and the studies on consensual centers of consciousness called chakras by the centuries-old traditions. These dynamic centers represent magnetic vortices that, when organized, restore health and free the being. Patterns out of balance can be reorganized in various ways: when you take a vacation, for example, you somehow give room for this pattern to reorganize itself. In the same way, shiatsu, acupuncture, meditation, homeopathy, all that reorganizes the bio-field, each with its specificity and different levels of action and responses.”
World of hells or self-achievement
"People whose conscience is on the heart chakra frequency will, naturally, develop a special feeling about caring for themselves. They do not have their focus fixed on aesthetics as much, and will endeavor to be happy with themselves. The Chinese call the abdominal chakra a “world of hells”. Many people live at this hellish level of consciousness: depression, negative feelings, a constant lack of everything, and feeling of being excluded. They believe that they only take from the other, their feeling are poorly developed. They are no longer aware that they must put their creativity to work. On the other hand, when the consciousness reaches the heart, the law changes. You see that giving is to receive, and that the source of our feeling each day lies within yourself. Feelings are deeper and calmer."
Allopathy and homeopathy
"After enduring very tough situations during a lifetime, very often the emotional body loses its memory of what it is to be happy and healthy. In homeopathic treatment, when you transmit the information on health, the individual has an insight, sees and has a self-reference of that craziness in his or her life. Homeopathy makes the real story appear before your eyes and awareness and the emergence leads to creativity. If someone does not experience this state of inner emergence, he or she stays there, stagnating, sometimes for many years. And the same happens with chronic disorders. Each immunological system grows accustomed to that illness over time, and does not mobilize to react against what he or she would be able to solve in a few minutes, even in the case of poisoning."
Consumerism and synchronicity
"I have just attended someone who was very consumer-minded and was cured. In the healing process, the person leaves behind an egocentric attitude and is now aware of the social. Suddenly, you see that you look awful and need help. Looking inward at you yourself is like a hot pan. The person sees the problems around him or her, talks about them, is well informed, but deep down lives as if they don’t really exist. Do you think that if people are really aware of the serious social and human problems, wouldn’t they mobilize themselves to do something about them? The only issue is our lack of consciousness. Another interesting data is that, when the individual is in the healing process, he or she now perceives two possibilities in relationships: either he or she positively influences the people around them, or the synchronicity transfers him or her to another place or situation. We are a particle and are constantly resounding. Either that frequency has a potential for accompanying you or you take quantitative, qualitative leaps. When healthy, you don’t resound to tragedies or accidents. Why should a thief pick you out in the street? Pure resonance. This is the principle of faith. Make sure to be well because everything will turn out well."
Self-esteem and loneliness
"Until seven years old, the center of consciousness must be in the abdominal plexus. By adolescence, in the solar plexus and, by 28 years old, the person should be entering the heart chakra, which is about loving your neighbor, communication, higher levels of consciousness. But today, the level of people’s consciousness does not rise, and remains fixed at levels of consciousness not compatible with our natural inner evolution. Self-esteem is destroyed, since the person feels that he or she is not meeting the higher purposes of their life. This leads to tremendous frustration and low self-esteem. The person is totally suppressed by the huge quantity of medication that he or she takes, and this inner wheel continues locked, perpetuating an eternal existential anguish. Today, children are ill much more often than ten years ago because they are absurdly suppressed. Allopathic medicine does not respect this dimension, already studied by quantum physics."
The healing road
"I don’t much like to advise someone to do transcendental meditation or yoga. Everyone, in our healing process, will find our own connections, and that’s good. Normally, materialist people who are in a healing process ask for books on spirituality and begin to investigate this admirable new world. They leave that hot pan of materialism. In the emotional field, when you prescribe the correct medication, you are amazed at seeing how someone can leave such dramatic situations so easily."
Depression and unhappiness
"They are two kinds of people: the depressed and the unhappy. Unhappy people have missed every train that they should have caught in their life, and it becomes very complicated. These people will have to work with acceptance, because they know that they no longer have the time to catch any train. On the other hand, the depressed are those who have been through a very sad situation and cannot work it out.”
Synchronicity and cure
"When someone is in a healing process, the question of synchronicity appears and we see that we are all connected. When balanced, time is more productive, situations in which someone would lose control now no longer happen. There is very much less wear and tear. The person arrives at venues on time, meets the right people. I usually tell patients that, if some difficult situation arises, it can cause a major outflow of energy, such as an accident or end of a love affair, and that from that moment they feel that things aren’t going well, it’s because some dynamic center was disorganized and needs to be redirected."
Graceful aging
“Ten years ago, people were calmer in relation to their own aging, because they had cultivated something deep, more significant. They didn’t stay focusing only on this body business. I regard life as a long Santiago walk: you pass by everything, from breathtaking situations to an immense void. We are all making our way to our inner cathedral, our own Compostela. The question is: the certainty of arrival, the courage to be yourself, care with deviations, being alert to warnings, and making choices that lead to who you really are. A cathedral of light.”
